SAISI ExpoSense 2026

Why Sensory Health Matters More Than You Think

There’s a growing conversation happening across classrooms, therapy rooms, homes, and even workplaces. It’s about sensory health. And once you start seeing it, you realise just how much it influences the way we learn, behave, connect, and function every day.

On 6 June 2026, that conversation comes to life in a very real, very practical way at SAISI ExpoSense, hosted at Midstream Ridge Primary School in Centurion.

Now in its third year, SAISI ExpoSense is not just an event, it’s an immersive, community-driven experience designed to help people of all ages better understand how their sensory systems shape their everyday lives.

A Journey Through the Senses

This year’s theme, “Journey Through the Senses,” is woven into every aspect of the day. Rather than sitting through passive learning, attendees are invited to move through the space, explore, engage, and experience sensory integration in action.

SAISI ExpoSense is deeply rooted in Ayres Sensory Integration®, but it is intentionally open to everyone.

Yes, occupational therapists and educators will find immense value here, but so will:

  • Parents and grandparents
  • Children and teens
  • Corporate professionals
  • Anyone interested in improving their own well-being

Because sensory health doesn’t only affect what happens in therapy or at school. It influences:

  • How we parent
  • How children learn and cope in classrooms
  • How we perform and stay focused at work
  • How we regulate emotions and manage stress
  • How we relate to the people around us

Understanding your own sensory system can unlock insight into not only yourself, but also your child, your partner, your colleagues, and even those more challenging relationships in your life.

Learning You Can Actually Use

One of the biggest frustrations professionals often experience is this: learning the theory, but struggling to apply it in real-life settings. SAISI ExpoSense directly addresses that gap.

Throughout the day, visitors can engage with interactive sensory stations  – hands-on spaces designed to demonstrate sensory principles in a practical, accessible way.

These stations allow you to:

  • Experience different sensory profiles firsthand
  • Understand why certain behaviours occur
  • Explore simple, effective strategies
  • See how environments can be adapted to support better regulation and focus

This is where theory becomes practical, usable knowledge.

More Than Learning—An Experience

SAISI ExpoSense is intentionally designed to feel different from traditional professional development events.

Alongside the educational components, the day includes:

  • Live demonstrations, including guide dogs
  • A variety of children’s activities and experiences
  • A creative, traffic-inspired environment that brings the theme to life
  • Go-carts, food stalls, coffee, and curated shopping exhibitors
  • Hourly lucky draw prizes

The inclusion of exhibitors means attendees can also explore sensory-related products and resources, engage directly with suppliers, and discover tools that can be used in classrooms, therapy spaces, or at home.

Supported by Partners Who Share the Vision

SAISI ExpoSense is proud to collaborate with partners who recognise the importance of sensory health in everyday life.

We are excited to share that this year’s event is supported by Sanlam BlueStar and Sox Footwear, organisations that value innovation, well-being, and meaningful community impact.

Their involvement helps make it possible to create a space that is not only educational but also accessible, engaging, and enriching for all who attend.

Accredited Learning Opportunities

For those looking to deepen their knowledge further, ExpoSense also offers SACE- and HPCSA-accredited talks, with the added convenience of live streaming. Listen to the talks from anywhere in the world!

These sessions provide valuable insight into the real-world impact of sensory health, with a foreword from one of our sponsors, Mr Martin Herbst from BlueStar Sanlam:

09:30 – 11:30    How your sensory health affects your parenting and your teaching
– Dr Gina Rencken & Elize Janse van Rensburg

12:30 – 14:00    How your child’s sensory health affects their learning
– Yumna Razak & Liani Austin

Educators and healthcare professionals can earn CPTD and CPD points, while gaining practical strategies that can be implemented immediately.

Why This Event Matters

At its core, SAISI ExpoSense is about creating awareness that leads to meaningful change.

By bringing together knowledge, resources, and people, the event aims to:

  • Deepen understanding of Ayres Sensory Integration®
  • Equip attendees with practical, everyday strategies
  • Encourage more inclusive classrooms, homes, and workplaces
  • Help individuals better understand themselves and others

Because when we understand sensory health, we begin to see behaviour, learning, and emotional regulation through a more informed and more compassionate lens.
