Applications for SAISI Course Bursaries 2025
Closing date 24 January 2025
- Any person seeking a SAISI bursary to attend a core course (SASIC1 to SASIC4) needs to be a SAISI member at the time of applying for the course bursary.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have been a SAISI member for more than 6 months, at the time of application.
- Any SAISI member seeking a SAISI bursary to attend a core course (SASIC1 to SASIC4) must complete the online bursary application form (FF2).
- Other sources of funding must be disclosed. For example, funding or other bursaries from the Department of Health or Department of Education.
- Bursary applications will close on the same date as the closing of applications for SASIC1. No applications will be accepted after this date.
- You must apply for all the courses that you intend to do in the year to be considered for a bursary for each course. Bursaries can only be awarded for courses already applied for.
- There are a limited number of bursaries available per year. The granting of bursaries will be decided by SAISI EXCO, and their decision is final.
- Preference may be given to occupational therapists who work in a rural or low socio-economic area.
- The applicant will be notified of the decision of EXCO by the SAISI Treasurer.
- Bursary fees are not payable in cash and will be taken off the total course fee. The bursary recipient will be responsible for paying the outstanding course fee.
- Having a bursary does NOT grant applicants immediate access to the course. The applicant should have applied for the course, and IF a place is available, the applicant will be allowed onto the course on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, early application for courses is essential.
- An applicant who has been granted a bursary will only be allowed onto the course if ALL prerequisites of the course have been met.
- A SAISI member who is granted a bursary will be required to start and run a SAISI journal club in their area.
- Cancellation of courses:
- Cancellations after the closing date will result in a charge of 15% of the course fee to be used for administration.
- If cancellation occurs one week or later before the course begins, the applicant will be responsible for payment of 100% of the course fee, unless the applicant’s space can be filled, in which case a refund will be received, but the deposit will not be refunded. Refunds will be made four to eight weeks after cancelation.
