CONVERSION PATHWAY

SASIC 3

In-person

The SASIC 3 course focuses on the interpretation of sensory integration constructs, using clinical reasoning, interpreting the results of the SIPT®/ EASI®, as well as a sensory questionnaire (SPM 1/2 or SP 2 – the SPM2® is preferred on SAISI courses), unstructured clinical observations, and observations of play and in therapy. Clinical pictures of sensory integration difficulties and dysfunctions are taught based on the latest ASI® constructs.

This is a five-day in-person course. During the current transition period, both the EASI® and the SIPT® are discussed during SASIC 3, due to certain course participants who are completing their ASI® training using the SIPT®, as well as interpretation of ASI® functions and dysfunctions based in part on previous studies conducted with the SIPT®.

Pre-course activities due
  • Pre-course assignment (more information with SASIC 3 acceptance letter): 7 September 2026
  • TASC (Test administration and scoring check): 4 September 2026.
  • EASI® assessment of two typical children: 4 September 2026.
  • EASI® assessment of one atypical child (with suspected sensory integration difficulties) for interpretation during the SASIC 3 course: 4 September 2026.
  • Review course notes of SASIC 1 and SASIC 2.
  • Prepare documentation of one atypical case.

Course participants must bring their atypical case along for discussion to the SASIC 3 course (please note that the atypical case brought to the course may not be used for the post-course assignment):

  • EASI® results, relevant clinical observations, sensory questionnaire, (SPM-2® is preferred and taught on the course; if the SPM-1 or Sensory Profile 1 or 2 is used you may still bring this along, but we do not explicitly teach the interpretation of these tools), any other additional tests, as well as any other relevant information.
  • Supplementary Ayres and Gross Motor Clinical Observations (optional).
  • A 5-minute video clip of the atypical case, in an unstructured situation (not in therapy or during testing).
  • An EASI® manual.
  • The manual of your sensory questionnaire (SPM-2® is preferred).
  • An SIPT® manual if you have access to one (optional).
Post-course activities due

Protocol submission:  *No late submission for protocols will be allowed due to strict SASIC course timelines.

Submit a case and write a protocol showing clinical reasoning of interpretation.

The protocol process includes:

  • Scoring of the SIPT®/EASI® checked by a SAISI approved mentor before starting with the write-up of the protocol. *The scoring marking fee is included in the SASIC 3 course fee.
  • Attend at least one individual mentoring session or two group mentoring sessions and submit proof along with the protocol submission. *The mentoring fee is not included in the SASIC 3 course fee. The course participant must pay the mentor directly.

PLEASE NOTE: Participants must pass their protocol before they are eligible to attend the SASIC 4 course.  Course participants must apply in advance (before confirmation of protocol passing) for SASIC 4 as space is limited.

Deadline: March 2027

PLEASE NOTE: Please note that course participants should not apply for all four SASIC courses in the same year. This is because, due to the protocol submission requirements, course participants cannot attend both the SASIC 3 Interpretation Course and the SASIC 4 Intervention Course in the same year.

Timeframe for ASI® training: It remains the course participant’s responsibility to complete the ASI® training within seven years.
