Supporting Left-Handed Learners: An Evidence-Based Clinical Approach
Designed specifically for occupational therapists and other therapists working with children, this comprehensive two-hour workshop explores left-handedness from both an educational and clinical perspective.
The workshop begins with the complete teacher workshop (Part 1), ensuring a shared understanding of left-handedness, writing principles, cutting skills and classroom strategies. Part 2 then builds on these foundations, exploring the underlying sensory-motor mechanisms that influence left-handed development and clinical intervention.
This workshop aims to move beyond simply accommodating left-handedness, helping therapists understand why certain challenges occur and how to use clinical reasoning to guide assessment and intervention.
Part 1

Prevalence, genetics, myths and misconceptions
Development of hand dominance
Writing principles
Cutting principles
Classroom strategies
Part 2
